Valentine Cards with The Twinery

Welcome to The Twinery's "Be Our Valentine" special celebration!  All week long you will find special projects and giveaways on The Twinery blog!  The theme for today is cards & scrapbook pages and I have a fun card to share.

This card features lots of pink!  I die cut the hearts on the front of the card and chose two colors of glitter cardstock and one patterned paper to arrange in a cluster.  I tied a tiny piece of Shimmer Twine through the heart button.  After adhering my sentiment and punched border, I tied two strands of twine around the panels.  I used Platinum Shimmer & Blossom.  I love how the two look together! So soft and pretty!

The surprise of the card comes when you open it up...

This is a 3-panel card and when you open it up, there is a heart banner inside that also opens up.  To do this, I punched a hole in the top corner of each panel.  The front panel of the card is popped up on dimensionals so that it can hide the twine knot that secures this banner on the inside.

I used the Platinum Shimmer twine (of course!! I LOVE that stuff!!) to string the die cut hearts together.  To do this, I cut two of each heart out and also die cut a matching heart from a sheet of Scor-tape adhesive.  This is a super easy way to create a banner with die cuts and twine!  The twine is sandwiched in between all the pieces and it is nice and secure.

The biggest tip that I can give you when making a card like this is not to tie your twine down or adhere your die cuts until you are sure you have the right length of twine and the right position for your die cuts.  Once I determined how tight I wanted my twine banner to be when the card was opened, I then marked the middle with a piece of washi tape (because it is easy to remove) and also marked one end as well and left if loose for the time being.  I tied the other end of the twine to the card with a knot.  Then, I attached all of the hearts starting with the middle one first and working my way out on each side.  Once I had all of the hearts attached, I then tied off the other end to finish the banner.

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed this project!  The Twinery is giving away cardstock & a Martha Stewart Punch set today, so be sure to stop by their blog and leave a comment for your chance to win!

Notes:
Cardstock card base is Bazzill 12".  It is scored at 4" & 8" and then a tiny sliver was trimmed off the edge that folds inside the card to allow it to open easier.
